DEMISE OF OBA SIKIRU KAYODE ADETONA

🕊️ Tribute to a Timeless Royal Icon – Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona From the Nigerian Social Community UK(NISOCOMUK) & Hope2023mandate.com

It is with deep sadness and profound respect that we join the people of Ijebuland, and indeed all Nigerians, in mourning the passing of Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, the revered Awujale of Ijebuland, who departed this life at the age of 91 today Sunday 13th of July 2025.

Since ascending the throne in 1960, Oba Adetona exemplified leadership rooted in tradition, wisdom, and progressive thinking. His reign was marked by unwavering commitment to justice, peace, and cultural preservation. Under his royal guidance, the Ojude Oba Festival flourished as a powerful symbol of unity and identity for the Ijebu people and admirers around the world.

Here in the UK, the Nigerian diaspora fondly remembers his legacy—not just as a monarch, but as a bridge-builder whose influence reached far beyond borders. His enduring friendship with national leaders, including the late President Muhammadu Buhari, further reflected his stature as a pillar of honour and statesmanship.

As we say farewell to one of Africa’s longest-reigning traditional rulers, we celebrate a life well lived and a legacy that will inspire generations to come. May his royal soul rest in eternal peace, and may his vision for a united and dignified Ijebuland continue through those who follow in his footsteps.
